Bio

Nicholas is briefed to advise and appear in a broad range of commercial-oriented matters including real and personal property disputes, complex issues of contract and statutory construction, equity and trusts (including urgent interlocutory applications) and insured claims (including disciplinary actions). He has particular expertise and experience in corporate insolvency, the operation of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth).

Prior to being called to the Bar, Nicholas was an Associate at the High Court of Australia (Gummow J and Gageler J), Tipstaff at the Supreme Court of New South Wales (Barrett J) and worked in the Banking and Finance team at King and Wood Mallesons.

Nicholas is co-author of the leading text, the Annotated Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth), has convened and lectured Commercial Law and Finance Law at the University of Technology, Sydney and assisted in the teaching of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA) Advanced Certification course. He is a professional and contributing member of ARITA, the Law Council of Australia and the Commercial Law Association of Australia.
