Bio

Nicola accepts briefs in all areas of commercial law and has a particular focus on insolvency and insurance.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Nicola was a senior associate at Johnson Winter & Slattery in insolvency litigation. She has over a decade of experience, having worked in firms at both the boutique and national level.

Nicola has frequently acted for liquidators, receivers and managers, and bankruptcy trustees in respect of their powers and obligations under the Corporations Act 2001 and Bankruptcy Act 1966, including the conduct of public examinations, actions for voidable transactions and applications to Court for guidance under section 90-15 Insolvency Practice Schedule.

Nicola has also advised and acted in insurance matters, contract disputes and matters involving the Personal Property Securities Act 2009. She has appeared in Federal and State courts of various jurisdictions and has acted for a range of trade credit insurers and surety providers in respect of issues regarding policy response, subrogation and enforcement.
